DIY Cellphone

Ive been out for three long days - went to Dublin.

And now im back, lets spice things up with this do it yourself cell phone from David Mellis - It has all the basic functionalities expected from a basic phone - you can call, SMS, save and display numbers with thier coresponding names and display time.

The phone and the functionality is built around the Arduino GSM shield but was packed with all the other features like liquid crystal displays with backlight, buttons for the keys, a speaker and a microphone. The great thing about this project is that it is OPEN SOURCE and the hardware sources can be found here while click this link for the software sources - on the links you can also ask for features to be added. Im looking forward for the next DIY phone to be based on an android OS, leave me a comment if you already know of one.

[Update!]

So less than 5 minutes from the first time this was posted i got a tip from Cornejo Robinson about another arduino based phone check it out here.
